Balancing Climate Neutrality, Supply Resiliance and Margins
The Challenge
In the manufacturing sector, in-depth analysis and cost-based decision-making are as old as business itself. At the same time, the demand for climate-neutral business processes on the part of consumers has become louder and louder. Finding a balance between economic efficiency and climate neutrality in terms of sustainability is one of the greatest challenges for many companies. They face this task in all areas – from strategic planning to product development and operations. And the pressure is growing: in the face of regulations such as the Supply Chain Act (CSR) and the global relocation of production abroad, close to home or at the company’s own site. A reliable assessment of the environmental impact of products and processes is needed so that managers can make the right decisions regarding their sustainability strategy. Customers are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, leading to new reporting standards and the requirement for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to be transparent about their supply chain and the footprint of their products.
